Swamis of IndiaSomething that has always fascinated the western countries about India is the holy men or the swamis. The role of these swamis has a deeper meaning and according to most Indians they are the bridges between God and Human. Swami, which is derived from the Sanskrit language which means “owner of oneself” or in other sense “free from the senses”. This title is given to those people who have done some extraordinary things in their lives and to the people. They have an amazing mental power which is mostly on the spiritual level and on literary as well. Their main aim is to transform the lives of the people to a higher order. The swamis are most famously followed by the Hindus but their teachings and practices are respected by the other religions as it has a positive and strong meaning. They are the head of a religious school or sects of thought. They are all scholars who in a young age are initiated towards a mind that is too advanced and are philosophers. In India there are large followers of these swamis and often they run social or educational institutes in which they preach the followers. To the followers the swamis are the miracle workers who will cure them or help them. There are many such swamis who have perform miracles, if not in by power, through their teachings and disciplines. The swamis live a simple and ordinary like their followers and it is through their teachings and methods that most people have cleanse their minds and soul. |
